A pack of wild dogs have killed five deer and eight muflons last week in Sofia zoo in Bulgaria, according to mr. Ivanov, the zoo director. The hungry dogs managed to jump over the zoo´s fence. Because of the period of low temperatures, 15 degrees Celsius below zero, the dogs probably had lots of trouble to find sufficient food. Next to the thirteen kills, two deer were are severely wounded. The dogs went as they came, over the fence, which has been reinforced since the attack. Also zookeepers now carry alarm pistols.  The Bulgarian capital city suffers from circa 9000 wild dogs since a few years. The number of wild dogs increased significantly during the economic crisis, because some owners were not able to support their dogs anymore. (Source: Telegraaf, 30.01.2010)
