The last 6 months have been a busy period for me. So I couldn’t make the progress I planned for myself writing zoo visit reports. Even worse, I hardly had the time to visit any zoo. But not to worry, the near future should allow me to turn my notes of 2016 into publishable reports. Nonetheless, I couldn’t resist to publish my notes and footage after I took a trip down memory lane in July, visiting the Avifauna bird park in the Netherlands.
It was in the seventies of the previous century when I, about 18 years old, visited the Avifauna bird park for the last time. Together with a friend I went photographing birds, experimenting with my newly bought fancy camera. I had much difficulties with the wire mesh getting in the way of the actual objects my photographs should depict, because all the birds were caged in endless rows of aviaries. At least that’s the image my memory provides. Nowadays, the bird park has entered the era of close encounters and moated and open top enclosures. More information here.
