Fifteen Dutch zoos, launched an initiative to use only sustainable soya in their animal diets.
In zoos soya is a notable part of the diet of, for example, giraffes. By using their combined purchasing power the zoos have been able to draw up an agreement for the supply of 43 tonnes of soya per year, all certified as having been sustainably produced. (Source: website EAZA, 02.11.2010)
