Polar bear pro­tected in U.S.

The U.S. gov­ern­ment decided to include the polar bear in their list of pro­tected species as of May 15. For months nature con­ser­va­tion­ists had been wait­ing for this impor­tant step. It is the first time that a clear link between cli­mate change and the neces­sity to pro­tect a species, is iden­ti­fied, estab­lished and taken for­ward. (Source: World Wildlife Fund)
